Our dept. was assisted by Pelican and Newbold fire Dept. in the response to a reported chimney fire on Spider Lake Rd around 5:45 this evening. Assistant Chief Braun arrived on scene first reporting back that we had a working chimney fire with no extension outside of the chimney at the time. Engine 1 arrived on scene sending a crew into the basement to access the chimney. Firefighters knocked down most of the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher. This chimney had an large amount of creosote build up causing the fire. Pelican Truck 1 arrived setting up their aerial ladder for a crew to gain access to the top of the chimney. The roof crew then sent down our chimney chain that will knock down build up of creosote to the bottom where the basement crew can remove it to outside and extinguish it. Firefighters were on scene for an approximately 2 hours 45 minutes.
Oneida County Medic1 and WPS also responded to this call.
